ONCE A MONTH WE WILL HIGHLIGHT A PLANT THAT IS BOTH SUITABLE AND STYLISH FOR THE TRADITIONAL AUCKLAND GARDEN. THIS MONTH OUR PLANT IS :
Myosotidium hortensia : Chatham Islands forget-me-not
Sometimes you want to create a focal point or establish a space that forms a smile on your face. This plant will give you both. It works beautifully alongside a variety of plants, either mass planted or as a specimen. Endemic to the Chatham Islands, off the coast of New Zealand, its ancestors are likely derived from the American continent.
The relative large gorgeous vibrant glossy green leaves are winged and bears numerous blue flowers in the late spring. In addition to the blue-flowered species, 'Alba', a white flowered cultivar is also very popular. Relatively easy to maintain, the Myosotidium hortensia will transform any designer garden.
