ONCE A MONTH WE WILL HIGHLIGHT A PLANT THAT IS BOTH SUITABLE AND STYLISH FOR THE TRADITIONAL AUCKLAND GARDEN. THIS MONTH OUR PLANT IS :
Thalictrum delavayi : Chinese meadow-rue
If a little colour mixed with a delicate form is your thing, then the Thalictrum delavayi would serve you well. No herbaceous border should be without the tall upright stems and vibrant colour of the Thalictrums, with sprays of purple-blue, white or yellow flowers all through the summer. These China natives can be easily grown, require full sun to part shade, but will need a little extra support for the long upright flowering stems.
The Thalictrum delavayi has hundreds of tiny nodding flowers on long dark stems fern like grey-green foliage, that can add some beautiful colour and subtle elegance to your designer garden.
