The inaugural NZ Flower & Garden Show began this year, with an array of international and local designers showcasing their work to a very receptive public. Outlook Landscapes Limited designed a 6m x 6m exhibit to showcase their design aesthetic and provide an insight into just what could be achieved in a small outdoor space, and taking a Bronze medal in the process.
"Our design draws inspiration from the European renaissance, while engaging a sophisticated contemporary feel. We utilised these principles to incorporate style and functionality, with a strong emphasis on elegance and practical sensibilities.
Our aim was to demonstrate how an enclosed space with little to no views, could be transformed into a sophisticated and inviting outdoor space with a traditional and elegant design aesthetic.
Part of our design ethos was to address problematic areas within a site, by utilising highly developed modern products to redefine what could be achieved. Incorporating new European manufactured, UV protected artificial hedging within these areas, enabled us to further enhance our design, by creating design solutions for previously problematic areas.
With many low rise buildings being a logical solution for many parts of Auckland in the future, we wanted to think about how we could maximise those small outdoor living areas, while focusing on traditional design, to raise the benchmark for just what could be achieved. Utilising the architectural and spatial environment around us, we can help design more liveable cities from which to enjoy."
