ONCE A MONTH WE WILL HIGHLIGHT A PLANT THAT IS BOTH SUITABLE AND STYLISH FOR THE TRADITIONAL AUCKLAND GARDEN. THIS MONTH OUR PLANT IS :
Liquidamber styraciflua 'Worpleston': Sweetgum
As a designer who appreciates the traditional principles of plant selection, there are many examples of well established plants that transcend fashions. The Liquidamber is one such plant. A spectacular, hardy deciduous tree with corky bark and distinctive maple like leaves, that turn from a deep green in spring, to a yellow, orange and scarlet colour in Autumn. An elegant upright mid sized tree that originates from North America, that can reach heights of up to 7 meters. This beautiful specimen tree is perfect for a larger property, and will add a stunning aesthetic in a group situation.
